IWBTG is mostly known for its unusually difficult platforming elements, unorthodox level design, and its utilization of sound effects, characters and music from many other games.
The player is the Kid -- a rather diminutive, yet very ambitious character, whose goal in life is to gain the honorable title of "The Guy".
